Technology

The QF technology consists of a hydraulic tool combined with a modified ASME flange

The flange is machined in such a way that it can slide onto the pipe itself, and the hydraulic tool extrudes the pipe into grooves machined inside the flange. This process secures a metal-to -metal seal giving a gas-tight and  mechanically strong flange connection.

The Quickflange solution includes a simple and effective crevice-corrosion protection system, based upon the use of industry-proven composites.  Applied as a wet-paste prior to flange activation, this sets-hard to permanently fill and seal off any crevice.  This DNV accredited system has no primary or secondary sealing or other operational function in the joint, but has been proven in independent testing to protect it throughout its lifetime from the possible effects of corrosion.

Dimensions & Materials
The QF-connection is today available in the following dimensions and materials: Pipe dimension: 1" to 8". Wall-thickness: Schedule 10 -40 (1", 1.5", 2" and 3" schedule 80) Pressure: Up to 600lbs flanges. Materials: Carbon Steel, Stainless steel 316, Duplex, Super Duplex 2" - 3", CuNi and 6M0.  Other dimensions, wall thickness or materials on request.

Testing & Qualifications
QF connection has been through a rigorous testing process, where mechanical strength and pressure integrity has been evaluated. The initial external testing has been carried out by DNV, who has developed a test procedure and related test load requirements based upon ASME B 31.3 and ASME B16.5 standards. This test procedure has been established to evaluate the mechanical strength of the QF coupling compared with the strength of the pipe itself.

A complete report from DNV is available from Quickflange on request.
